Crinoline

Crinoline, also know as Crin or Horsehair, is a versatile and flexible fabric made from polypropylene. Crinoline was originally a stiff fabric with a weft of horse-hair and a warp of cotton or linen thread. Today, it comes in many different colours and widths, pleated, patterned and tube. This material is particularly suited for trimmings.

Crinoline can be melted, stitched or shredded. Richard Nylon, a Melbourne Milliner, uses crinoline very successfully and innovatively. Crinoline is often used to extend brims, making them lighter yet larger. Crinoline is also used as a lining for fabric bows to give them more body.

The Crinoline we supply is synthetic crinoline.

We sell Crinoline by the metre.
