BUSH BUDDIES HATS ON MAIN

"Bush Buddies Hats on Main was born in 2001 but that was not the start of makiing hats. Behind Bush Buddies is milliner Wendy White . With a passion for fashion and an enthusiasm and fascination for hats like no other.
I believe hats are not just to keep the sun off, they are like "icing on a cake" - a glamorous piece to attract attention and add the finishing touch to any outfit.

I have enjoyed sewing and creating things since I was small. I had my first sewing machine when I was six. I was first introduced to hats in 1998 when I answered an ad in the newspaper for a sewing machinist to sew fabric hats for a local lady. Two years later I bought her business and started to design my own fabric hats. I sold them at shows and agricultural shows from south east Queensland to Darwin.

In 2004 I met Waltraud, an awesome milinery teacher who changed my outlook on hats forever. I went from Hatmaker to Milliner. This is where my millinery adventure truely started. With International millinery forum 2007 and wonderful milliners like Waltraud, Neil Grigg and others. I continue to venture alone a great road of millinery creativity , with awesome people and great clients. They are the people who have given me wings.

I experiment continually with new techniques and textures all the time and I am always looking for new things to work with. So best not to ask where it came from because it could be a placemat or lace off great grandma's wedding gown dyed and revamped. Feathers, felt, lace, ribbon, straw, anything - they are all great to work with.

When I talk to people about hats I light up they say. I love to share my passion for hats with everyone. I like them to feel good when they step out, wether it be for the races, the football or mustering cattle.

This is only the begining, everyday I learn something new."

Happy Hatting

Wendy White
