Millinery Events
Events of note for all lovers of HATS!
2008
1 - 31 December
Milliery exhibition at Port Philip Art Gallery, St. Kilda Melbourne
Works on sale in aid of the Blue Hat Project: www.bluehatproject.og.au
Sunday 18 May 7:30pm - 9:30pm:
Feltazia The Tea Party
This is another special event for Catherine Byatt and Joan Stowell, a
chance to share their unique felted garments with friends and visitors.
With two previous, successful exhibitions at Mt Evelyn and Federation
Square in Melburne, their third event will be held at the Mont deLancey
Historic Home and Museum, Wandin, Victoria, Australia.
Expect to see colourful wearable creations, hats, scarves, wraps and
jackets all designed using the felting technique. Traditionally, felted
items are thick and heavy, but using new techniques combining silk and
Australia’s finest merino wools the results are soft, light and yet
still warm.
Waltraud Reiner, internationally renowned milliner and champion of the
Blue Hat Project will launch the month-long exhibition, with a parade on
Sunday evening, 18th of May.
The Blue Hat Project is a charitable organization, supporting people and
raising community awareness of depression. We are very pleased to be
supporting The Blue Hat Project.
Felted garments and hats will be exhibited at Mont de Lancey from 19th
of May, until 22nd June.
Museum entry $5

In celebration of Hat Week, and in the lead up to the Spring Racing Carnival, the Australian Racing Museum and world renowned millinery
company, - Torb and Reiner - have joined forces and are running a millinery market and
millinery workshops for the duration of Motorola Spring Fashion Week.
Providing city workers and perhaps the budget conscious with the opportunity to take part in these exciting and creative workshops, means
you will learn the essential ’hot tips’ for making your own hat or headpiece just in time for the 2007 Carnival and within an affordable price range.
Workshops are tailored to suit all skill and experience levels and cover topics such as Free Shaping in Sinamay, French Flower Making and
Fabulous Feather Techniques Revealed.
While getting into the spirit of racing, this is the perfect opportunity for everyone to explore and enjoy the
Australian Racing Museum’s fascinating collection of racing’s history that also includes a range of millinery by Lillian Frank and Peter Jago.
